We travelled from San Francisco to the Napa Valley for wine tasting on the Napa Valley Wine Train.
That was a good experience and was well run. Our tour group had our own carriage and tour guide who explained where we were travelling and all of the wines we were to taste. We arrived at the train station which was quite a large room which had the traditional gift shops & wine bar where we could relax while waiting our turn to get on the train.
We had to walk out to the train via a walkway which had a lot of locks attached to the fences. Apparently this is a tradition that lovers do to pledge their eternal love - the locks have their names engraved on them.
We were served a beautiful up market lunch on board the train with white table cloths, good silverware and cutlery along with a generous amount of wine tasting. The train travelled through the Napa Valley where we could view some of the local wineries as we passed by.
On the way to Sonoma we drove along the Carneros Highway to Sonoma Valley and visited a couple of other wineries for more wine tasting.
We arrived in Sonoma and visited the Town Square before arriving at our accommodation - the Fairmont Sonoma California.
