Arrowtown - New Zealand - March 2009

We visited Arrowtown twice during this holiday. The first time before playing golf at Jack's Point and the second time on our way from Wanaka to Queenstown to fly back to Sydney from Queenstown Airport.
There are some up market shops in Arrowtown specialising mainly in woolen goods. The town attracts a lot of tourists as it is so close to Queenstown.
There is an interesting history to Arrowtown when it was a Settlement for the Chinese in the gold rush days. The Chinese village has been preserved so that we can see the conditions these people lived in the early settlement days. The old huts have been kept in their original state. It is hard to imagine how they survived the cold wind & harsh winters in such crude dwellings.
