We had a three day stop over at South West Rocks for some R&R after a busy week on the Gold Coast.

Our choice of accommodation was the Rockpool Motor Inn which is close to the Country Club and not all that far from the Town Centre. It was very suitable for us as there was secure parking, a good sized room with a kitchenette which was useful to us for a 3 day stopover. The Manager Megan was very friendly and helpful especially when we locked ourselves out of our room late at night. We would recommend this motel to other travellers.

The beach area is a lovely area to walk through with a variety of shops and a hotel right at the beach area. On our first day we had dinner at the Country Club which is 100 metre walk from the motel. The club was very welcoming and friendly. We had dinner at the restaurant which was reasonable cost and good quality.  The chef Shelia Siu introduced herself and when she found out we were celebrating an anniversary she insisted on us having a complimentary dessert. Good hospitality service.

We had a Bistro dinner at the Surf Club on our last night there and enjoyed the atmosphere and views of the surf club.

There is a lot more to South West Rocks than meets the eye when you first drive through. It is a very pretty place and we enjoyed our drives to see the old Gaol at Trial Bay, the lighthouse and Hat Head National Park, the river area which is also a very pretty area.

There is another camping ground at Trial Bay which is right on the beach.

We did not get much in the way of rain but the days were a bit cloudy so I did not get the beautiful blues of the sea or any sunset photos.

South West Rocks is so much quieter than Pt. Macquarie or Coffs Harbour - so if it is a laid back couple if days you want with no hustle or bustle - this is the place!
