Vietnam - Water Puppet Show, Hanoi - April 2013

One our special entertainment shows during our stay in Hanoi was the famous Water Puppet show.

These shows are unique to Vietnam where actors work with puppets in and under a water stage with live musicians playing ancient Vietnamese Musical Instruments.

The show does not go for very long but it is worth seeing for the uniqueness of the presentation.  I have not seen anything like that anywhere else in the world.

Vietnam - Sheraton Hotel, Hanoi - April 2013

The Sheraton Hotel, Hanoi was our home while we were in Hanoi for a few days playing golf and touring.  It was a comfortable Hotel with good amenities including a swimming pool and free Wi Fi which impressed me.

We played golf at the Hanoi Golf Club and Tam Dao Golf Resort and saw the main tourist spots in Hanoi. On day four we left our luggage at the hotel in secure storage and only took an overnight bag with us to Halong Bay for our overnight cruise.  We returned from Halong Bay for one more night at the Sheraton Hotel before flying to Delat which is about the middle of Vietnam.

Vietnam - One Pillar Buddhist Pagoda, Hanoi - April 2013

We visited the One Pillar Buddhist Pagoda in Hanoi which is one of the famous tourist attractions in the city.  Our guide told us about the history of the site and its meaning to the Vietnamese people.

Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hanoi - April 2013

We visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi which was a massive area set aside in Hanoi City.

The Mausoleum was not open to the public when we were there but our guide gave us a good insight into the history of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam and the city of Hanoi.

Vietnam - Lacquer Production Factory, Hanoi - April 2013

After golf on day 3 in Hanoi we called in to see the Lacquer Production Factory in Hanoi which was a fascinating experience.  The skill required to put this work together was amazing requiring time and patience working with egg shells, colours, polishing and drying the works to perfection.

We were very impressed with some of the art works which were all available for sale.  Getting them home would be a challenge.  We purchased a small work of art as a souvenir of our time in Vietnam.

We were able to watch the artists at work and admire their skills.

Vietnam - Tam Dao Golf Resort, Hanoi - April 2013

We played golf at the Tam Dao Golf Resort on day 2 of our arrival at Hanoi.  It was a beautiful golf course in a great setting with a huge Clubhouse.

It was a pleasure to play in such a picturesque setting even if the golf results were not that good.

We had a fun day at our first day of golf in Vietnam.

Vietnam - Hanoi Golf Course, Hanoi - April 2013

We played golf at the Hanoi Golf Club on day 3 in Hanoi.  We had overcast weather - but no rain and it was not too hot.

The course was nice and wide but with some challenging water holes and treacherous bunkers.

Our caddies were lovely young girls who were very taken with my long nails and big hands (compared to them) they were very tiny girls.

We enjoyed our day there before leaving for Halong Bay the next day.
