Dorrigo - Museum - October 2015

We enjoyed our excursion through the Dorrigo Museum which was full of fascinating old stuff that we were both old enough to appreciate.

There was a lot of interesting information for history buffs and even just looking back on how things used to be and to think they were considered luxury items in their day.

I remembered the old school desks with ink wells and I was very taken with the Successful Wife's pocketbook which would have been considered a very innovative item in those days.  The men had it good - things are a bit tougher for them nowadays!

Enter cost was $5 which went towards the upkeep of the museum.

Dorrigo Rainforest walks - October 2015

We enjoyed our short rainforest walk at Dorrigo as it as very well marked out and maintained. The indicators at the beginning of the walks were helpful when deciding how long we wanted to walk and how difficult the walk would be.

There are many choices - some of the walks taking several hours.  The forest was beautiful to walk through and well worth the effort to get there.  The photos do not show justice to the true natural beauty of the place.

A visit to the Rainforest Information Centre is worthwhile.

Dorrigo Rain Forest Walks - October 2015 - Lookout and Dorrigo Rainforest Centre

The Dorrigo Rainforest Centre was a good place to visit to get information on all of the rainforest walks that are available and accessible from the centre.

We could decide which of the walks were the most suitable for us and the length of time and difficulty of each of the walks.  We chose one of the smaller walks and walked to the lookout area which had magnificent views.

The gift shop had a lot of local wares, plenty of maps as well as the usual souvenirs and coffee shop.
