Dubbo Golf Club - August 2013

We stayed at Dubbo for two nights so we thought we would have time to fit in a game of golf.

We had a look at the course when we arrived and found out that the course was being maintained and there was a Men's competition on.  Dubbo has a 27 hole course and we were able to play holes 19 to 27.
We went to visit the Dubbo Zoo in the morning and then decided to have 9 holes of golf on the way back from the zoo.

The course was a bit rough because of the maintenance however we enjoyed being able to get out there and have a hit.  It was a very flat course as one would expect but because of the Men's comp we did not get to see any of the holes 1 to 18 which I expect would have been in a better condition.

We had a drink in the clubhouse afterwards but the bistro was not open so we went back to Dubbo Centre for dinner.

We were able to park the Motor Home in the parking area and change into our golf clothes, pull out the golf clubs with no problems at all.  The Motor Home was not an inconvenience and it was good not having to go back to the campsite for our gear.

Kidman's Camp - Bourke - August 2013

We drove from Dubbo to Bourke and arrived at Kidmans Camp about 3 o'clock in the afternoon where we stayed overnight.

When we were booking in we noticed that they were offering a Campfire Dinner with Poetry Readings by the local born Andrew Hull who is the renowned Bard of Bourke. We had not made any arrangements for dinner so we booked in for the dinner along with quite a good number of other guests.

We could select our own site so we chose a grassy patch not far from the amenities block and the swimming pool.  The Camping area is well managed and kept in good order.  The amenities blocks were clean and in good order including the laundry facilities which included washing machines and dryers.

The camping area is about 7 klms from Bourke which is not a bad thing as security is not so much a worry than if it was close to town.

We went to the Poetry reading and enjoyed the meal served up from a small kitchen area where we sat around campfires and listened to Andrew Hull who read poetry that he had written about the local areas. It was a lovely balmy night and we enjoyed the experience.

Our overall experience was good and we decided that we would stay here again on our return trip which we did. The Campfire Dinner was not on offer the second time as it is only on selected nights   There was a food outlet not far from the campsite heading back towards Bourke where we could buy any snack meals that we wanted.

Cunnamulla Town - August 2013

Cunnamulla Town was a real surprise for us.  We were expecting a very old run down place but were very impressed with the way the town had been looked after with lovely gardens and trees in the streets.  Yes, it is an old town but in much better shape than I imagined it would be.

We walked several times from Lyn's place through the town centre looking at the shops and gardens.  The Cunnamulla Fella is a good feature and a "must do" photo opportunity.

We had a family dinner at the Cunnamulla Hotel on Friday night as we had all arrived at Lyn's by that stage.

We enjoyed our Cunnamulla experience.
  

Cunnamulla Golf Course - August 2013

When we arrived at Cunnamulla we took a drive around the town and decided to go and have a look at the golf course as it was just on the outskirts of town.

They have sand greens and a very dry course as you would expect in that part of the country.

There is a clubhouse - and it is a house that was donated to the club.  It was not open while we were there and we noticed an Honesty Box was in use for the golfers.
