Sheraton Hotel, Yalong Bay, Sanya, Hainan Island China - October 2011

Our stay at the Sheraton Hotel was very comfortable in spite of the rain - heavy at times which caused a bit of havoc at the hotel with water seepage in some places.  Our room was very comfortable with a large balcony that overlooked the garden & some water views.   The rainy weather did interfere with our schedule a bit but we managed to re-arrange our golf days so that we golfed on the lightly showering days which fortunately stayed fine for most of the mornings with heavier rain mainly late afternoon and at night. When it rained heavily we did the tourist thing and visited local venues such as the Deer Looking Backwards Park, the Pearl & Jade Factories and the Hot Spas as well as a couple of shopping excursions in Sanya. It was hot enough that occasional showers did not bother us.

We were lucky that the hotel manager was a Canadian & the senior staff spoke good English which was very helpful.  The hotel offered free internet for 45 minutes each day which was a bonus.  The restaurants were very nice, offering good food but do not order Australian Wine as it costs and arm and a leg there.  We mainly ate at the hotel but did venture out to some local Chinese Restaurants.

We were able to use the swimming pools and beach area which was lovely.  The weather was still hot even with the showers so we appreciated a swim after golf.  The hotel offered in-house shops, teller machine facilities, massages, gym, snooker room, medical care etc.

I would recommend the Sheraton as a great place to stay at Sanya.  The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms well looked after.  It was not too far to go into the city of Sanya or to the golf courses and other tourist attractions.

I have some more photos to add for this posting when I can find them.
