Yalong Bay Golf Course was the first game of golf that we had in Sanya. We were not disappointed - it is a great course and was just across the road (walking distance) from our hotel - the MGM Grand Hotel.
We met up with the head green keeper who is an Australian living and working in Sanya. His name was Shane Templeton and he was a wonderful host - making sure we enjoyed our game and had drinks ready for us when the golf was over. It was a very hot day so that was appreciated. We also met Angel Ling who was the Director of Sales and Management at the Yalong Bay Golf Club. They made us very welcome and Shane recommended some eating places for us while we were in Sanya. Shane showed me his stock of Vegemite and Australian favourite foods he keeps at the clubhouse to make us feel at home.
The Clubhouse and surrounds were picture perfect and we really enjoyed our day. Shane has been working there as Director of Golf Course Management and enjoys the work. He has got 60 employees including 10 full time gardeners. No wonder it looks so good.
That evening we had dinner at our hotel.
