Curtin Springs Station that caters for tourists
Typical country side at the station
The Emu kept in a fenced yard to prevent it from stealing food from the tourists
Bougainvillea trained into a hedge
The sitting area at the station
Another old cactus plant at the station
We stopped at Curtin Springs Station for afternoon tea break on our way back to Uluru after our tour to Kings Canyon.
It was a long day so a break from the bus was appreciated.
Curtin Springs Station had a nice area to sit and have a cool drink or coffee. Around the homestead area they had a variety of animals in captivity including kangaroos, an emu ( kept in a fenced area because it got accustomed to stealing ice creams etc when it was left to wander) and a huge variety of Australian birds housed in aviaries near the sitting area and also out the back of the cafe.
They made good use of bougainvillea (probably the only flowering colourful shrub that will survive the desert conditions.) I noticed they cut the bougainvilleas severely and they kept a much better shape. Other than that they had some amazing old cactus plants that had been there for many years.
It was a good stop off with a good choice of afternoon tea.
