Phang-nga Bay, Thailand - April 2016

This map shows where we were at Khaolak
In relation to our day trip down to Phang-nga Bay

We did not travel down as far as Phuket from Khaolak
To board our long boat to travel to James Bond Island
across Phang-nga Bay

Long boats moored

Joining our long boat to take us across the Bay to James Bond a Island

Floating village on the bay which we visited later in the day

At Phang-nga Bay

Mountains towering out of the water

Natural rock formations showing beautiful colour

Limestone formations at the water level of the mountains

Floating Village that we visited later in the day

Mosque at the Muslim Fishng Village

Colourful rocks and good vegetation growing on the mountains
rising out of the sea

Small jetty where we landed to view James Bond Island. There were
market stalls set up in front of the split rock

I was expecting to see monkeys in this habitat but did not see any

Phang-nga Bay was a beautiful place to boat through.  It reminded me of Halong Bay in Vietnam except there were not so many islands as Halong Bay.  The rock formations rising out of the sea are on the same fault line as Vietnam so the vision was similar.  It is a challenge to Halong Bay because the mountains had more colourful rock and more vegetation on them.

I enjoyed the long boat travel across the bay to visit James Bond Island, the floating fishing village and the canoe rides through the sea caves.

It was a worthwhile tour which we booked through our "Beyond Resort Khaolak" Tour Desk.
