Santa Barbara, USA - September 2012

We arrived at Santa Barbara after a long day of touring from Monterey Via San Simeon to visit Hearst Castle so it was late afternoon before we arrived so we did not get to see much of Santa Barbara until the next day while on our way to Los Angeles.

The next morning we had a tour of Santa Barbara and stopped off at the Town Hall which had some good historic memorabilia and artwork including wall murals.  It also had a Clock Tower that we could climb up by ladder and the views over Santa Barbara made it worth the effort.

From there we visited a Mission which was very interesting and historic.  Founded in 1786 the monks have maintained the Mission and it has the longest continuing presence in the United States.  The gardens were mainly succulents as the weather is very hot and water would be a problem.

From there we travelled on to Los Angeles via Santa Monica to have a couple of days in Los Angeles.
