The Deer Looking Backwards Park is a MUST DO if you are visiting Sanya for the first time. The views at the top of the mountain overlooking Sanya are fabulous and give you a good overview of Sanya City and the bays.
There is a lot of history involved in the park and with most Chinese places there is a mystical story attached to this place. Sanya was apparently understood to be set at the end of the earth before it was discovered that the world was round. There are signs telling the story of "The End of the Earth and the Colour of the Sea" - photo above that you can increase to reading size by clicking on the photo.
We were lucky enough to get a reasonable day and the views were visible.
