Temple of Heaven - 25th October 2007

This afternoon we visited the Temple of Heaven in Southern Beijing. It was built in 1420 during the reign of Emperor Yongle. It is the site on which emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties offered sacrifices to heaven, prayed for rain and a good harvest.

You can click on the images to bring the writing to viewing size to read about the various details of the temple of heaven and the heavenly centre.

photos attached include our group with guide "John" and some of the group standing on the heavenly centre stone.
