Map of the area
Halifax Holiday Park
situated between Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay

We spent the best part of two weeks in the Port Stephens area and this was out home away from home.  The Park is situated between Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay at the foot of  the Nelson Head Lighthouse.  It is a very convenient spot for touring the Port Stephens area.

Next time we go there we would choose a bigger lot even though our van does not take up a lot of room.  The lot was on the corner of the exit road and did not have enough room to park the car safely. In addition to that our van was under a tree that attracted a lot of birds so consequently at the end of a couple of weeks there was a lot of bird droppings on the annex and van.  On the plus side we were near cabins that were not fully rented (more so on the weekends) and we were right near the exit gate to the shop and Little Beach. The office staff were helpful and the park is well looked after. The freeWi Fi was not wonderful but I did manage to hook up with Telstra Air at times from our lot.

The amenities block was good and kept very clean. The laundry facilities were ample.  There was not a swimming pool which did not concern us as we did not have small children with us.  There was a children's play area and a small camp kitchen.  As well as an access to Little Beach we could also access Shoal Bay Beach by walking through a rear access gate.

Little Beach was a very short walk away and the marina had a restaurant and wine bar which was convenient.

We really enjoyed our time in the area and managed to see most of the close by beaches and tourist attractions.  The only place we missed was Anna Bay - so that will be on our next time list.
