Zurich - June 2006

Zurich, Switzerland was our first stop from Sydney via Singapore flying Singapore Airlines on our Europe Tour in June 2006.

We had two days in Zurich staying at the Swissotel in the Oerlikon area of Zurich that was about 10 minutes from the airport. It was 5 degrees when we arrived at the airport.

Zurich was a very impressive city with plenty to look at. We bought a 24 hour tram ticket that would take us around the city so we used that the first afternoon.

The first day we walked the area around our hotel and caught the tram around the city for an overview We also walked around the older part of the city and had a look at St Peters Church. The shops were very expensive.  Central Railway has a nice Bistro type restaurant that sells reasonably priced meals.

The second day we caught the tram to Central Railway for breakfast (omelletes and fruit) and walked along the massive waterfront  and beautifully kept parks and the riyer Limmat.

In the afternoon we met our guide for our tour group for a welcome drink..

It was nice to have a free day after a long haul flight.

We checked out some of the beautiful food outlets and some of the very European cars.

The following day we joined a tour group looking at the country roads of Bavaria, Switzerland and Austria
