Launceston - Saturday 13th September 2008
Our flight to Launceston was very good. One and 3/4hrs we arrived at 10.35 am which gave us plenty of time to look around Launceston before dinner. We had a bit of a city tour & visited the Cataract Gorge Reserve (separate posting for that event). We checked into our hotel - Peppers Seaport Hotel which was a fantastic place to stay. It is right on the river wharf surrounded by restaurants. We were lucky enough to snag the one of the apartment rooms (photos attached). I could have spent longer there. In the afternoon we walked around the nearby centres looking for a TAB as one of the boys had a tip for the races. In Tasmania the TAB is known as the Tote and they are not to be found in every Pub as in the mainland. We went on a search mission & eventually found one. It was good to have a look around the district as well & we wandered down some of the side streets & saw how the locals lived. That night we had dinner at "Fluids" restaurant which was right next door to the hotel.
Images attached: Our Virgin Blue plane at Sydney Airport; our bus with trailer attached for the golf clubs; various photos of the wharf area and the hotel; our hotel apartment; The Inveresk Tavern - the pub where we found the Tote; walking around Launceston; at dinner at Fluids Restaurant on the wharf; the boys checking out a disco party next door; some girls from the disco party not coping too well with the alchohol.
