The Botanical Gardens at Ballarat were a huge surprise - we had not allowed nearly enough time in our program to see all of the beautiful exhibits in these lovely gardens.
The gardens are well maintained and very interesting to walk through. Being a garden nerd I loved it but even Peter found it a great garden to look through.
Some of the features were an avenue where they have a bust of all of the Australian Prime Ministers. This alone took some time to view and they also had an orchid house, some tranquil gardens, ferneries and water features. I was very impressed and would recommend these gardens even if you are not a garden nerd.
The gardens were extensive so allow plenty of time for this stopover.
