We went out of our way to see the Benalla Rose Gardens on the advice of the Park Manager at Ararat where we had an overnight stay. We got talking about how lovely the Victorian Rose gardens were and he rang Benalla to check if the roses were in bloom.
The gardens were in full bloom and were maintained beautifully. The roses had most of their names noted in the garden bed which was very helpful to identify the roses.
If you are a rose nerd or just love gardens this is the place to be. It was well worth the extra klms we had to travel to see these gardens. Even Peter was impressed. He had to drag me out kicking and screaming so we could travel on to Wagga Wagga.
