We travelled quite comfortably from Timaru to Lake Tekapo. It was a shame that we had a mainly cloudy, cold day as that took a lot of the blue colour from the lake that would have been evident on a fine sunny day. The last time I visited here there was snow on the top of the mountains & the lake was a beautiful icy blue that gave the place such a majestic look.
It was still a beautiful place to visit and has some interesting facts about McKenzie country. The little Church of the Good Shepherd is worth a visit and the view from inside the Chapel looks like it is painted on a canvas.
