Wanaka - New Zealand - March 2009

We travelled from Lake Tekapo to Wanaka stopping at Omarama for lunch.

Wanaka is a lovely quiet place to spend a few days especially if you enjoy a game of golf. The golf course has got spectacular views of the mountains and the lakes. We stayed at the "Fairways" Motel which was just across the road from the golf course.
We visited "Puzzle World" which is a tourist attraction in the area. It was a facinating place full of intrigue. Water running uphill, billiard balls running the wrong way, walls & floors that trick the eye and much more. It was worth the visit but be careful if you have a problem with your balance - it is a weird experience.
We took a drive around the lake area where there were some beautiful homes with equally beautiful views across the lake. It would be a good alternative to Queenstown if you want to get away from the tourist plague.
