Timaru - New Zealand - March 2009

Timaru is a pretty little place. We stayed at a motel at the waterfront overlooking Caroline Bay.
On the way through from Dunedin we saw the golf course at St Andrews. The weather was nice so we decided to go back there for a game of golf. Unfortunately they were renovating all the greens so we had to play the same nine holes twice on very rough fairways and sanded greens. On the last two holes the cold snap caught up with us and the temperature dropped about 1o degrees in minutes. We were scrambling to find our "all weather" gear as the wind was freezing.
As the weather had turned so nasty we decided to head off to Wanaka where we wanted to stay a couple of days to get another game of golf before heading home.
We had a lovely meal at the pub at Timaru. Peter ordered a flathead & said it was the best he had ever had. (photo attached)
