Niagara Falls - The Whirlpool Aero Car and Helicopter Ride - October 2012

As part of our Globus Tour we were offered an optional flight over Niagara Falls and those not wishing to do that were offered a ride on the Whirlpool Aero Car which gave them the opportunity to look directly into a part of the river called the Eddy Basin which in turn opens out into the whirlpool.  The 90 degree turn in the river is the point at the Falls that intersected the ancient St. David's Gorge.

I opted for a helicopter ride over the Falls which was truly awesome.  It was a totally different aspect of the Falls than what you can imagine from the ground level.   I did not realise that we would be able to carry electronic equipment on board the helicopter so I left my iPad with Peter so he could get photos of the Whirlpool.  I would have been able to get some fantastic photos as we had a beautiful clear sunny day and looking down on the falls it was hard to describe the beauty of it and even the photos cannot capture the true magnitude.

I would recommend the helicopter ride - even though it was only 12 minutes of flying it was well worth it to be able to experience the vision.
