Ottawa, Canada - October 2012

On our way from Montreal to Ottawa we had our first sight of blue sky since we left Boston.  It was a welcome sight as it makes city touring much more pleasant even if the weather is still cool.

As part of our Globus tour we had a city tour by bus finishing the tour at the Byward Markets.

We viewed some of the cities older historical buildings and had a brief look at the Canadian Museum of Civilisation.  It was a big Museum and we would have needed to have re-visited later in the afternoon as we were restricted with time.  Ottawa is a beautiful spread out city with some lovely architecture, parks and waterways.  Our tour finished at 3.00pm which did not give us a lot of time to do extended touring so we opted to walk past the waterways and parks near our hotel which were beautiful.   There were a lot of other Museums we could have seen and also the Rideau Canal which is part of Canada's National Historic Park system.

We unfortunately only had one day in Ottawa which only gave us time for a quick overview.  I did enjoy what I saw and it was nice to have some better weather for our walks.  The next day we left for a two day stay at Toronto and to visit the beautiful Gatineau Park..
