We arrived in Adelaide on Thursday 6th August 2015 after an uneventful flight from Sydney flying Virgin Australia.

Our program was to have a couple of days in Adelaide, then travelling by bus to Munnum Wharf where we boarded the PS Murray Princess for a three day tour on the Murray River, then returning to Adelaide  for another day before flying to Alice Springs to continue our holiday.

We stayed at the Stamford Plaza on North Terrace in the Adelaide CBD, a very handy spot not far from the city highlights and walking distance to the Casino, Adelaide Oval, Botanical Gardens and Museum.

We had a comfortable deluxe room, no view but easy access to the hotel facilities. We were unfortunate enough to have bad weather on all the days we were in Adelaide - 14 degrees, windy and raining. There were some handy restaurants close by and major shopping centres walking distance from the hotel.

We walked down North Terrace and had a look at the museum, botanical gardens and the Adelaide Oval.  We did some shopping in the retail centres and I was happy to find an "Apple" shop there so I could check out their latest products.  My birthday was coming up - so I scored a new Apple Watch which I am delighted with.

The hotel had a swimming pool and spa on the rooftop which was not too inviting on a freezing cold wet day.

There was a good bus service so we took a free trip around the city to get an overview.

It was bad luck that we had such bad weather while in Adelaide however we did have a look at some interesting places (there are separate posts with photos of all the places we visited)

On Wednesday 12th August 2015 we flew to Alice Springs flying Virgin Australia to continue our holiday.
