We had a day stop at Saltbush Flat which gave us a spell off the boat for a while and gave us the opportunity to see nature up close and personal.
First thing in the morning we had a guided nature walk along the edge of the Murray River. Having a guide was useful for identifying all the wildlife, trees and shrubs in their natural habitat. The walk took about an hour and was not difficult walking.
After our walk we had an opportunity to travel on a flat bottomed boat to go into the wetlands areas to see closeup views of the bird life. The small boats could only take 20 people at a time so while we waited our turn we could try our hand at fishing or relax at the edge of the river and view the luxury houseboats moored at Saltbush Flat.
