Scottsdale, Phoenix USA - September 2012

We had a good rest break at San Diego before flying to Scottsdale, Phoenix to start our Canyon Tour with Globus. We had a driver take us around San Diego on one of our day excursions and we were so impressed with him that we rang him to take us to the airport on our last day.  James from "Flexi Transport" was very obliging, arriving on time at the hotel and got us to the airport on time.

We had a good flight from San Diego to Phoenix and were transferred straight from the airport to our accommodation at Millenium Scottsdale Resort and Village which was right next door to the McCormack Golf Club.

The weather was very hot but our rooms were air conditioned.  The resort had a nice swimming pool with a view towards the golf course.  We walked over to the Golf Course and had a look at the Pro Shop and booked in for a game of golf the following day.

It was in excess of 100 degrees the following day but fortunately there was a breeze which made it bearable to play golf and we did have carts.  The golf course was interesting with some stone hazards as well as water hazards. Being out in the middle of the desert all of the plants were succulent or grasses so they could survive the weather.  The Pro Shop had some bargains so we bought some shirts and I bought a pair of golf sandals which is something I have never seen before.  They probably need them when playing in the heat of Scottsdale. We had lunch at the Golf Club and then went back to our resort for a swim before meeting up with the Globus Tour Director to pick up our paperwork for the Canyon Tour that was starting at Scottsdale the following morning.   We had a social drink and nibbles and met up with the rest of our travelling companions on the bus tour.  There were a surprising number of Americans in our group which was good as we got to talk with them as well as the other Australians on the tour.

We did some washing while we were there and hung it out on our balcony.  By the time we got back from our swim everything was bone dry.  I would not like to be there in the height of summer - I believe 115 degrees would be just another day and not called a heat wave.

I enjoyed the experience of Scottsdale and would have liked to have time to see some of their other many Golf Courses.
