We travelled from Yosemite to Monterey via the Sierras, San Joaquin Valley, Pebble Beach Golf Club and a lunch stop at Carmel-by-the Sea.
Monterey was well worth a stop over if only for a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
The Aquarium was the best I had ever seen and we only had time to see parts of it. It was well stocked and well maintained and crowd management was good. There were a lot of helpful staff to guide us around the various exhibits as it was easy to lose your way through the huge display areas.
I would like to re-visit the Aquarium and bring my grandchildren to see the huge variety of sea life - many of which may not be seen in other places. I was very taken with the sea-horses and jelly fish. There were some informative videos on display to explain how the species exist.
That evening we were treated to a private dinner at the aquarium which had magnificent views of the bay. After dinner we attended a lecture which explained how the aquarium was run & the species maintained. It was very interesting and a place that will stay in my memory because of the quality and variety of the exhibits.
Our hotel at Monterey was the Intercontinental The Clement Monterey and it was a comfortable stop over.
