Old Dubbo Gaol - September 2013

We arrived in Dubbo early enough to be able to take a walk through Dubbo and have a visit to the Old Dubbo Gaol.  I had been to Dubbo before but had never taken the time to do the self guided tour through the old cells and out buildings in the gaol.

It was a very interesting experience where we are taken back in time to how it really was in the old days.  No comfortable beds, TV's, single cells unless you were in the windowless solitary cells. They did it hard in the old days.  Maybe all inmates should take this tour prior to arriving in their modern motel rooms that they have these days so they will have a lot less to complain about.

We timed it well between large groups of tours and were able to walk through the area when it was not too crowded.

The Old Gaol is situated in it's original position in the main street.  Dubbo has grown around it and is kept in museum state and includes a lot of information about the history of the place and some good animations.

It is worth a visit if you are history minded.
