Leadbetter Golf Course - 18th Oct. 2007
The first photo is the 3 par 16th hole of the Leadbetter Course.
This is the signature hole and it is a challenging hole in as much as your drive has to be straight & true. The surrounding areas are thwart with danger - not the least being cobra snakes that live in the low growing vines all along the edges of the fairways. (See photos attached of dead cobras in the water near the green)
As far as I was concerned, if my golf ball went in the vines - it stayed there. I had no intention of being confronted with a cobra.
It is a beautiful hole - designed with a bubbling stream of water accross the middle of the fairway - just to cause some more grief for any bad drives.
Our day started well. We had great weather for golf & Ben gave a clinic prior to hit off (Photo attached). Everyone had a great day.
Journal enties for today's match: Yvonne hit her ball into the water, saw the splash. The ball must have hit a rock & finished 10 yards off the green; John had a 3/5 on the back nine -scored 23 points and had 36 points for the day; Wendy had 36 points; I hit Rod's golf ball & suffered the penalty; Helen had a 4/4 on the 4th & a par on the 10th; I walked into the men's toilet at the Clubhouse & made a hasty retreat; Rod Fell had a shower after golf & used what he thought was deodorant- turned out to be hairspray - so he had to shower again; Frank is now known as Frank "Oh Shit" Ward as he prefixed all of his shots with this magic word; Ben left his mobile phone in the bus.
