School for the children living in the fishing village

Facinating to know they first settled here over 200 years ago

Leaving the floating village

This was a facinating insight into another life. The floating fishing village was settled over 200 years ago and is 100% Muslim

They are very reliant on the tourist trade and have many market stalls crammed into a very small space selling clothing, bags, jewellery, shoes, souvenirs as well as selections of Thai food.

The only building that is set on the land is the huge golden mosque that towers over the village. Everything else including the school and sports field are on the floating pontoons.

This tour was part of the James Bond Island Tour that we booked through our  "Beyond Resort Khoalak" Tour Desk.

The village is set in an ideallic spot on Phang-nga Bay not far from James Bond Island.
