Stawell - October 2014

Ok

We travelled from the Grampians staying overnight at The Acacia Caravan Park at Ararat overnight.
The cost was $29.00 per night for a powered site.

On the way we stopped off at Stawell to check out the venue for the Famous Stalwell Gift.

We were pleasantly surprised at what a nice place it was.

Central Park was a beautifully kept area in front of the Oval where the Stawell Gift Race takes place every Easter.

Next door is the Stawell Gift Museum which was very impressive with all the memorabilia of the Stawell Gift Race right through from the instigation of the race.  The entry cost was $5 and was well worth it.  We spent quiet a lot of time there sifting through all the information and exhibits.

I would recommend this stop off if you like historical things and beautiful gardens.

Our caravan park at Ararat was good.  It was a small friendly park with the manager recommending that we visit the Rose Gardens at Benalla when I told him how impressed I was with the Victorian Roses.  He went as far as ringing Benalla to check if the roses were out in bloom.
