Coen, Queensland - Monday 27th June 2011

Today we travelled from Musgrave to Weipa via Coen which was our morning tea stop.  Coen is an old gold mining town and we had the opportunity to visit their Historical Cottage where we had our morning tea. The cottage was very interesting with many old objects and photos of past years glory days.

It was an interesting insight into an old town. We visited the local shops, Post Office, and the local "Exchange Hotel" which is deemed the "Sexchange hotel" (photos attached).   There was also a memorial at Coen to an old entity "Toots" who was a female truck driver who held her own with the men in the town.
