While I was preparing our photos I did not realize that I had the spelling of Seisia incorrect. As a result most of the photo descriptions are spelt "Siesia" which at the time I thought was correct. When I have the next rainy day that I cannot get outside I will go back and do corrections - in the meantime you will know what I mean.
Incidentally I noticed that Seisia was pronounced "See-sha" on the mainland. At Thursday Island I was told with great authority that it is pronounced See-cia. Make of that what you will.
We arrived at Seisia from the Moreton Telegraph Station on Wednesday 28th June 2011. Travelling where we could on the Telegraph Track (separate posting) , Fruit Bat Falls (separate posting) & the Jardine River (separate posting). Our accommodation at the Seisia Holiday Park was excellent with each couple having their own fully equipped cabin. Our cabin was on the beachfront, ensuite bathroom, kitchen, airconditoned & TV. The Holiday Park had a restaurant, post office & internet cafe.
The beach was okay to walk on during the day but no swimming. Fishing was recommended at the wharf where it is safe from crocodiles. There are crocodile warning signs at the fences at the beachfront which we took seriously.
We stayed at Seicia for two nights and had our dinners at the park restaurant. On the second day we travelled to Somerset (separate posting) and went to the most northern point of Australia which was the highlight of our tour (separate posting). When we returned to Seicia the boys had time to do some fishing before dinner.
On the last night of the tour our tour guide Dean Nulty presented us with our certificate to say we had successfully completed our tour of Cape York.
On Friday 1st July 2011 we caught the ferry to Thursday Island for our final day before catching another ferry from Thursday Island to Horn Island where we caught our plane back to Cairns.
