Niagara Falls by night - Illumination Lights - October 2012

As part of our Globus Tour we had dinner at The Elements on the Falls Restaurant which has beautiful views of theNiagara Falls which are lit up at night from the Illumination Tower.  The lights change constantly to varying colours as tourists can visit the tower and be part of the colour selection that transforms the falls at night.  We had beautiful panoramic views from Table Rock at the brink of the falls.

After dinner we went to the Illumination Tower where we could take part in the changing of the colours and read about the history of the lighting of the falls The Falls were first illuminated in 1860 using calcium torpedo lights.  In 1879 the Falls were again illuminated using electricity.  The illumination lights have continued since their inception in the late 1800's with only interruptions for WW1 & WW2.

It was an interesting evening and it gave us yet another great perspective of the amazing Niagara Falls.
It is a pity we only had a one night stay here as I would have liked to have had time to explore the area and various walks and views of the falls as every aspect of the falls in fantastic. My camera has been working overtime trying to capture the magic.
