We had a day and a half in Washington during our Globus tour which gave us two full afternoons for free time where we could re-visit places of interest or take in some of the great Museums and other places of interest in the city.
We opted to view as many of the Smithsonian museums that we could in addition to nearby parks and buildings. I really enjoyed Washington and would have liked to have had longer to absorb the history of the place. The organised part of the tour ensured that we saw the main highlights of the city.
We stayed at the Washington Hilton Hotel which was very comfortable and the bus delivered us to the main tourism area for our free time in the city.
We had thought of opting to visit the Congressional Golf Course which we would have found very interesting but the weather was not good so we opted for the museums which would get us out of any bad weather. The museums are massive and I have included separate postings for them.
The monuments and buildings in the city are very BIG and impressive and beautifully maintained.
Two days are not enough in this city especially if the museums are on your list.
