Vietnam - Phan Thiet to Saigon - April 2013

We travelled from Phan Thiet to Saigon on our tour bus that took us through a lot of rural country, shanty towns, roadside stalls and makeshift shops.  Nothing seems to be in any particular order with rural farms running into small towns and roadside stalls and then back to rural.  The shops were not in any designated order either.  There could be a shop selling tyres and car parts next to a food stall right next to the dusty highway with no visible health controls.  Everything is just piled onto the footpath with some sort of shade cover from the heat.

The motor bikes were everywhere loaded to the hilt with either passengers or goods being transported.  The rural properties were toiled by hand with workers out in the crops in the heat.  The local people must struggle to get enough money to survive as their living conditions are not too good.

We noticed those that had enough money to have a home built very narrow long houses with a frontage barely one room in width.  The reason for this is that they pay land tax on the width of their property and nothing on the length - thus the houses and land are long and narrow as you will see on some of the photos.

After having a couple of lovely days in Phan Thiet we were looking forward to hitting the bright lights of Ho Chi Minh City and playing some more golf there.
