Vietnam - Saigon to the Mekong Delta - April 2013

We travelled from Saigon to the Mekong Delta for our Mekong River experience.  It was a very hot day and the road was long and bumpy.  After we got out of the city limits the countryside was very rural with small villages and farms along the way.  It seemed to be very fertile land and there were a lot of different crops grown in paddocks.  The landholding appeared very small by comparison with farms in Australia and there was a lot a manual work involved in tending their crops.  There were roadside stalls usually in small groups.  The closer we got to the Mekong Delta the more tropical it all appeared.  We were looking forward to visiting the Mekong River so it was worth the effort to get there.
