The Links Kennedy Bay was a very challenging course in as much as it was an exercise to stay out of the 115 treacherous bunkers which were difficult to identify as they took on the undulation of the ground. We were warned not to drive our buggies in the reverse direction because of the danger of running into one of the pot bunkers which are totally hidden when looking in the backwards direction. (See photo of Pot Bunker attached) and there were a lot more bigger than that & came in multiples.
My solution to getting out of them was to hit backwards saving up to two or three failed attempts to lift over the towering side and possibly into another bunker.
The Course opened in 1999 an was included in the Golf Course Guides as No1 course in WA and no 2 Public access course in Australia. It is situated at the seaside town of Rockingham 40 minutes from Perth.
The clubhouse and Proshop still have a "temporary" air with not a lot of money being invested in that side of the course.
We found it a very interesting course and well worth the exercise of playing.
