Mandurah WA - March 2011

Mandurah WA comes highly recommended by me. The atmosphere, accommodation and food is exceptional and was beyond my expectations.

The Sebel Hotel was lovely, right on the waterfront where we could walk to the shops and other restaurants. The waterfront is a bit like a mini Darling Harbour without the hype. Our room was big with a balcony, there was a daily week day laundry service last cost about $20 on average, a swimming pool, gym & guest BBQ area. We found the only thing missing was a guest lounge room where we could have played cards after dinner. We did cook on the bbq one night & played cards in our room which was big enough to fit two small tables and 8 chairs.

We walked to the waterfront every morning for breakfast at the Dome which overlooked the water. The hotel had room service as well or there were plenty of other options as long as you wanted to eat after 8.30am. They are not early starters in Mandurah.

The restaurants we tried were: The Mei Jing Chinese Restaurant (walking distance from the hotel) followed by icecreams on the waterfront; Scuzies Restaurant at Mandurah which was a bit more up market (we celebrated Col Kelly's good golf score there); Ruffino's Italian Restaurant at Mandurah; The Hotel Restaurant downstairs from the hotel (it was half price that night & good value) and we did a home cooked BBQ by chefs Peter & Col and ate it out by the swimming pool which was lovely & then played cards in our room.

The weather was sensational for the whole 6 days, 5 nights that we were here. Lovely sunny days for golf and balmy evenings for eating out at night.

We took a luncheon cruise on the Mandurah Waters while we were waiting to get into our rooms the day we arrived ( a separate posting for these photos)

The only drama we had was being evacuated from our rooms at 4.00am in the morning because of a fire alarm. One of the guests in an upstairs unit had left something cooking on the stove & went to sleep and forgot about it. Lucky it was not the middle of winter. No damage was done & we were back in our rooms after an hour.

We thoroughly enjoyed the days of golf we had here (a separate posting for each of the golf courses for these photos) and could not think of a better place to stay than Mandurah. We were very impressed.
