A Ferry Ride on the Swan River is another "must do" while you are in Perth.
We combined the ferry trip with a visit to Fremantle and then caught the train back to Perth. We had a lovely weather day and it was beautiful out on the water. There are a lot of very, very rich people who live in the Perth area as was evidenced by the beautiful homes, units and mansions built along the river and the number of yachts and boats in the Marinas along the way. I believe that one in three people in Perth own a boat of some sort and at the weekends the water is alive with sailing boats everywhere.
We noted that the new owners of land along the waterfront can no longer moor a boat at their property and the foreshore is now going to be public property.
The Ferry trip included a commentary along the way which was helpful to identify all the interesting points along the way. It was a good experience.
