The Vines Resort and Country Club WA - March, April 2011

The Vines Golf Resort & Country Club is a great place for a stay & play deal. It is situated in the Wine Growing area of the Swan Valley and is framed by the foothills of the Darling Ranges only 35 minutes from Perth CBD.

They have two courses - The Lakes and the Ellenbrook which are both lovely courses with huge greens. The main function rooms are very nice with a good restaurant attached, swimming pool, tennis courts and guest lounges. The accommodation was also very nice with large rooms & balconies some of which overlook the course, swimming pool etc. The only fault I could make was that the rooms that we were in were a very long walk to the main facilities. We could park our cars near our rooms but had a 3klm drive right around the courses & grounds to get to the facilities or a good 10/15 minute walk down long twisted corridors . Not to bad if you were an able bodied person, but inconvenient for anyone semi disabled or injured.

We arrived at the vines for a two night stay direct from the airport. I was unfortunately ill with a bout of food poisoning during the trip over which took me two days to recover from. I would have appreciated the Vines stop over much more under better circumstances. The restaurant was good & everyone appreciated the meals from there.

We played the Lakes Course first which everyone enjoyed. The greens were huge & the course well set out. I was not well enough to take any photos of the Lakes Course (sorry about that) but I was out there on the course as I did not want to miss the golfing experience.

We went on to Mandurah after our stay at the Vines, then to Albany and on to the Margaret River area before returning to Perth where we went back to The Vines in April to play the Ellenbrook course. I did appreciate the Vines much better on my second visit & would recommend it as a good stay and play choice. It is one of Australias premier golf resorts with everything there for the golfer.
