Perth City WA - April 2011

We were booked into the Perth Ambassador Hotel for seven nights so we could do a discovery tour of Perth & Fremantle. We had three days of golf to throw into the mix which left us with three days for touring which I thought may be too much. As it was, it was hardly enough, but we did manage to scramble in most of the main attractions of the city.

The Perth Ambassador was in the City Centre central to everything. It had a car park for our car costing $10 per day, a guest laundry which was very useful, and in-house restaurant which was handy after a busy day. The rooms were adequate with our only downside being our room was right opposite the laundry facility which created a bit of traffic & noise. The hotel is in need of a refurbishment but it was clean & convenient.

During our stay we played golf at The Vines, Joondalup and Mount Lawley; visited the Royal Fremantle Golf Course; The Royal Mint; the WACA; The Casino; Swan River Cruise Perth to Fremantle; tour of Fremantle; train trip from Fremantle to Perth; Kings Park; a visit to the Harbourtown Outlet Shopping Centre; had dinner at the Fremantle Sailing Club, the Casino, and probably what was our favourite restaurant of the tour - a little sidewalk cafe/restaurant called Caffeitalia Ristorante Pizzeria in Hay Street where we got great food and service and the atmosphere was right. It was a busy place but that did not interfere with the service.

We checked out the East Perth Railway Station where we were due to catch the Indian Pacific Train back to Sydney. The boys have to drop back the hire car after taking Anne, myself & all of the luggage at the railway in the morning so we thought it would be useful to have the road map worked out.

It was a very busy week and we all loved Perth. The city was clean and well set out. The free bus service throughout the city was great as we could get on and off wherever we wanted for no cost at all. No doubt it helps to keep a lot of road traffic out of the city as well.

Perth definitely got our seal of approval.
